I'm in the same boat, programming since punched cards/tape was a thing. Internet? What was that? I agree entirely with what David said. Choose carefully whether you want to be a SME in one or two things or become a generalist like I did. I can program in a dozen languages from COBOL to Kotlin. I've done MMORPGs and billing systems and everything in between. Above all have fun with it.
Hate to be a snob but I do chuckle when I hear things like "even with 5 years experience", like that's a lot. I know, I know, we all start somewhere. In 35 years time you'll chuckle too. :)
