My attention is not on rocketry, though your piece brings up a topic oft ignored - well done. but on research into space elevators. Material science is moving forward in leaps and bounds. Every year there are multiple competitions and challenges to develop core technologies to make a space elevator a reality.
Until then, rocketry is a necessary evil, as much technology since the industrial revolution has been. I would hazard that widescale adoption of EVs powered from renewal energy will far out balance the issues of even high tourism rocketry.
