Why are Tesla owners like kids in a candy store?
Tesla vehicle owners (and as a full disclaimer, yes, I am one) appear to be unique, like no others I know, at least in the U.S. I’ve never met such a proud group of people so fanatical about their cars. I understand most folks are thrilled when they get any brand new vehicle and it smells of leather, has under 100 miles on it, and everything is gleaming new, but Tesla owners seem to be in a super league.
The “kid in a candy store” phenomena starts before they even get their car. Prospective owners sit in online groups counting down the days until delivery day, getting upset by delays, or ecstatic if it comes sooner. They post photos of their order, and then again when assigned a VIN, a crucial step that informs you your vehicle has actually been manufactured and… not long now!
How on earth is a VIN so exciting?
I realize that much of this is down to the online nature of purchasing a Tesla. There is no instant gratification at the dealer when they drive their purchase away. Buying a Tesla is like waiting for Christmas to play with their new toy.
Then there are more photos on delivery day, but that holds true of all new vehicles. This is only the beginning for the new Tesla owner! They wax poetic about every little feature…
