You might be missing the point that no matter how simple (you think) it was to write Homebrew, it is a tool used by probably hundreds of thousands of developers. Ergo he contributed something useful to the industry. It's not a question of good code. I'll take a production-successful product over good code any day. THAT's what makes him an engineer worthy of hire.
